Seattle Bits & Bites was founded in September 2016 by traveler, travel blogger and podcaster, Mary Jo Manzanares.
The motivation came from her combined love of travel, wine, and her home state of Washington. This eventually evolved into a quest to visit every winery in the state (somewhere around 900 of them), and the quest quickly grew into a reality and this website.
While the site is focused on Washington wineries and wines, you’ll also find information about all the things that pair perfectly with wine, including events, festivals, restaurants, food, attractions, and tips. You’ll also find local hotel and lodging information – please do not drink and drive.
The target readers are residents of the greater Seattle area who enjoy food and wine, travelers who are planning to visit Washington state and have an interest in food and wine, or wine lovers (no matter where they live) who want to learn more about Washington wines.
The site also sponsors wine meet-ups around the state, gathering together food and wine lovers for tasting, education, and conversation. We’ve recently launched a Facebook community and will soon be working on growing the community and focusing on content, events, and products that help the community learn about and enjoy wine. Mary Jo also writes a monthly Washington Wine column for Discover the Pacific Northwest.
As the site is new, readership demographics are unreliable. Current traffic is about 1,000 readers per month and growing.
Seattle Bits and Bites accepts advertising, sponsorship, and various collaborative partnerships. We accept a limited number of guest posts, and they must be of a non-commercial nature.
